Breakfast #1 Halwa

Here I explain, how to prepare a delicious halwa for 2 persons.

It will not take more than 25mins to prepare.


  1. Besan (Gram Flour) 75gms

  2. Suji (Rava) 75gms

  3. Sugar 150gms
  4. Ghee (clarified butter) 100gms
  5. Cashew 5-8 (break each to smaller pieces)
  6. Raisins (8-10 pieces)
  7. Elaichi (Cardamom)
  8. Water (500ml)
  9. Milk (200ml)


  1. Mix the suji and besan together in a bowl.
  2. Warm ghee for 2 minutes in a dry pan.
  3. Then, add suji-besan mix and fry/stir until its becomes pink/light brown. (around 5-7 minutes)
    Simultaneously, warm 500ml of water and liquify sugar.
  4. Once the mixture is reddish in colour add sugared water to the pan.

  5. Stir until it dries a little to a paste like substance.
  6. Add milk to increase the taste.
  7. Now add raisins, elaichi and crushed cashews.
  8. Serve hot.

Tips for improvements:

  1. Amount of suji = Amount of besan
  2. Amount of water = Amount of suji + Amount of besan
  3. Amount of sugar = Amount of suji + Amount of besan
  4. Add any other dry fruit (sweet in taste) to escalate taste
  5. Don’t fry the mixture of suji-besan too much
  6. Instead of ghee use olive oil if health conscious
